I have only used it a couple times but it is so convenient. I used to have an airfryer and a slow cooker but is just took up to much space so I got this and now I have so much more room in my kitchen! I deffinetly recommend getting this.

Love my instant pot !!!
This is a must have in every kitchen!!! I originally have the older first model for many years and used it every week to make soup. Then one day, I forgot to put the gasket in it while using it and the soup pour out everywhere. Instead of cleaning it, I just threw it out, And got this newer model. This is one of those pot in our kitchen I feel I cannot do without. I feel it saves me so much times. I can go make a pot of soup for Vietnamese pho and let it do its thing and I don’t have to sit there and watch it, such a time saver.

I absolutely love this thing
I’ve just gone on a binge and bought a bunch of cooking supplies, and don’t know where to begin or end reviewing them, so I’m going to do it all in one fell-swoop, and copy them all to each one. I ordered them all together, and my first effort was to make vegetable soup, using all of new devices for the first time. I’ll t try to make it clear which one is relevant to each review.First, the CULINARY COOKING TOOLS STAINLESS STEEL MANDOLINE SLICER WITH V-SHAPED BLADE & EXCLUSIVE STORAGE SAFETY GUARD:I’d never used a mandarin slicer before, and was nervous about it. All the reviews were scary, about sharp blades and sliced fingertips. I started by slicing carrots, and about the third carrot in, I was thinking about how hard it might be to return this thing – it was ridiculously hard to slice the carrots! They kept just wedging up and I barely had the strength to push them through. I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t even consider that that whole V-design was there for a reason. I was aiming each carrot right at the V, not thinking to use the length of the slicer. Once I figured that out, I sliced through all the carrots so quickly that I can’t imagine using a knife again. I proceeded to onions and zucchini and celery and tomatoes and green beans (yes, if you hold them in a bunch, it works) and celery and zucchini, it made quick work out of them all. The learning curve was ridiculously quick, one I realized the aiming for the “V” was the wrong approach, I absolutely love this thing. On to the NOCRY CUT RESISTANT GLOVES:A few of the reviewers for the aforementioned slicer said that these were essential. They were right. I hated the holder that was supplied with the slicer, and didn’t use it at all, opting instead for these gloves. A couple of times, when I got down to the nubs of the vegetables, I heard the gloves hit a couple of times, but there was absolutely no damage to the gloves (or my fingers). I can’t recommend them highly enough. The worst thing I can say about them is that they were stained by the carrots. That is the fault of the carrots, not the gloves, and one run through the washing machine removed that.On to the ZYLIESS CORN STRIPPER: If you’ve ever tried to strip corn from the cob using a knife, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without this thing. It’s got a slightly curved blade that just fits the corn precisely. I stripped through six ears, literally, in less than a minute, without wasting corn or stripping cob. It’s one of those utterly simple things that just works so well that it seems underpriced. Finally, the INSTANT POT IP-DUO80 7-IN-1 PROGRAMMABLE ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER:I was so scared of this appliance! I kept thinking that a pressure cooker can be used as a bomb! I read and re-read and re-re-read the directions, then thought, Just Do It. And I did. I put a dab of butter, and all my onions and beans and carrots in, and set it on “sauté” to soften them. Then I added in my corn and zucchini and celery and tomatoes and corn, set it to “soup,” and let it do it’s thing. When it beeped that it was finished, I tossed in some of those little pasta stars and set it to “sautee” for about ten minutes, uncovered. I ended up with the best batch of vegetable soup I’ve ever made. My advice for anyone buying this pressure cooker is, just don’t be afraid of it. It really is so intuitive that you can just leap right in. It won’t let you hurt yourself, and again…my vegetable soup has my family in awe.I could go on to the vacuum I bought from Amazon that cleaned up all the veggies I shot onto the floor while learning how to use these other appliances, but I think I’m done here. I give a five-star review to every one of these items.

The most amazing appliance I have ever used!
I’m a bachelor. I do my own cooking, though it’s all basic stuff.I don’t know how INSTANT POT originally caught my attention, but I became interested in seeing how I could cut down the cooking time on meat over conventional methods. The aspect of using a Pressure Cooker piqued my interest, but I was also somewhat scared of the concept.I went ahead and bought the DUO80. I chose the largest model because I buy meat in bulk at Costco. I wanted to be able to cook an ample amount of food that I could have leftovers for the rest of the week. Much better to buy a model that was bigger than my needs rather than a smaller model that would not accommodate larger family meals or parties.Absolutely, this is the most intimidating appliance I have ever used. That is, at first. IP (short for Instant Pot) recommends that you do a water test when you first receive this product. Now, it’s not essential that you do this. However, what it does it shows you how the pressure cooker works and how safe it really is.Dive into this head first and you won’t have any issues. An idiot like me had it figured out in minutes. My best dish is country style ribs. I buy them from Costco. Normally, those ribs would have to cook on low, in the oven, for at least 4-6 hours to get them tender. In the Instant Pot, it takes 40 minutes. Now, that doesn’t count the 20 minutes it takes for the IP to reach pressure cooking status and the additional 15 minutes it takes for the steam to naturally release itself before you unscrew the lid. However, 90 minutes total time is still a far cry shorter than 4-6 hours and the ribs come out even more tender than the oven ever could produce. You add your ingredients, then push the correct corresponding button on the Instant Pot. The pot slowly builds pressure. Once it reaches pressure, it starts cooking and counting down the time you put in. When it is done cooking, in most cases you let it naturally release the pressure whereas you don’t do anything but let the pot sit and release steam. In those cases where you need to get done faster, you can easily and safely release the steam by protecting your hand with a washcloth while slowly turning the top valve and releasing the pressure. You will know when it is safe to open the lid as a pin on the top will drop firmly into place.Don’t be afraid of pressure cooking. It is totally safe as long as you make certain the top lid is fully closed in place and the valve knob is set correctly. As the pressure inside increases, the gauge/pin on its lid pops up, indicating that the inside of the pot has reached the optimal pressure.I have used this instant pot not only to pressure cook but as a slow-cooker crock pot. Last week I made Chicken Cordon Bleu, letting it cook for 6 hours while I was at work. The pot automatically will stop the cooking at a designated time and then keep your food warm until you arrive home. The inner pot is amazingly easy to clean. Made of stainless steel, you simply use a Dobie pad and some liquid detergent to clean. This is the most amazing appliance I have ever used, To make things even better, there is an entire online community devoted to Instant Pot on Facebook. Additionally, there are dozens of websites that offer recipes that will keep you busy for years to come. Simply Google: Instant Pot recipes to find thousands upon thousands of suggestions.Don’t consider any other brand. Instant Pot is THE most recognized brand out of all the pressure cooker appliances and there is more unified support for this product than you will find for any other of its kind.

Love it!
My wife and I are really happy with our instant pot! She’s been wanting one for a while and we finally picked one up on sale on Prime Day. Wish we hadn’t waited so long – we use it almost daily. We like and follow the recipes on the Instant Pot website but this makes everything so much easier. I can’t tell you how many times I overcooked pasta or the boiling water spilled over the sides of the pot making a mess. No more – set it and forget it – it comes out perfect every time. We bought the ceramic pot accessory and then threw away our old rice maker. This week we made Shepard’s Pie and Spicy Veg Chili. Our son’s new favorite meal is the Mac n Cheese recipe we found for Instant Pot. If you cook at home a lot this is a must have item because it makes cooking so much easier and efficient. We bought the 8 quart pot but in hindsight the 6 quart would have been sufficient for most of our cooking and would take up a little less counter space, but it is nice to have more room to be able to cook larger family meals periodically. Recommend!

This thing really is awesome!
All right, I rarely write a review, but this Instant Pot is too awesome not to add to the already incredibly convincing reviews about it.I just receive my IP-DUO08 (the big one) last Thursday night. Friday I cooked rice in it as the first thing…came out great. Then I had 3 frozen chicken breasts, so I busted those out and did ’em up after the rice. I’ve never had such perfectly cooked, hot (heat hot), tender and juicy chicken breasts. And that was just for starters…So then on Saturday I bought a 4.5 pound chuck roast. I seared it up first just as you see people do it on the youtubes. Just look up “Instant Pot” and whatever you want to cook, like “pot roast” or “chile”, etc. I seasoned it up w/ all the regular stuff…nothin’ fancy…everyone will use whatever they like to use, so do your thing, it will all come out great in the end. Then I set it on the high pressure meat setting along w/ 2 big chopped sweet yellow onions and let it go for about 35 mins. After that I released the pressure and opened it up. All was cooked great already, but then I added chopped up yellow skin taters and carrots which was all I had handy at the time. Closed it back up again for another 15 mins.I basically turned it into a big stew…and it turned out fantastic. So easy and only took about 90 mins along w/ prepping time to clean and cut up everything first. So today, since all the “stew” had already been wiped out, I seasoned and seared up 2 huge pork tenderloins. Did same thing as with the chuck roast…pressure cooked them w/ a couple more onions for 35 mins, then opened it up again and added in all the rest of the carrots, onions, and taters I still had left over from before that I didn’t use w/ the roast. However…with the pork tenderloins I added in 3 cups of Mojo marinade to give it that Mojo flavor kick. This was awesome…you all gotta do it.Then I pressure cooked it all again for another 15 mins along w/ letting it de-pressurize naturally for about 10 mins afterwards. Then I let out the rest of the steam pressure using the quick release valve and opened it up.Again…absolutely amazing. I basically created a shredded Mojo pork tenderloin stew that is incredible tasting. Best thing I’ve ever made and it was only the 3rd thing I’ve cooked up yet w/ this pot. I could have added all kinds of other stuff, celery, peppers, etc., but I just didn’t have them at the time. But now that I know how to use this thing w/ the basics and have the timing down, there’s no limit to experimenting and cooking up great stuff. And I do recommend getting the 8 quart size unit rather than the 6. I have the 8 and it’s just easy to tell that any unit smaller than this would make it difficult for good size stew type meals or other things like big roaster size chickens, or ribs, etc. You gotta have the extra room for liquids and other things like lots of carrots, taters, onions, etc. And with the 8 it seems just big enough for that kinda stuff. I think if I had bought the 6 I would be frustrated w/ the smaller size, and there also might be more of a chance of overloading it and over pressurizing the smaller one if it’s too loaded up. Better to have the extra room in the 8 size. Just sayin’…Some pics are attached.

Amazing LOVE IT, can’t live without it. No more pressure cookers for me.
I totally, totally love mine and plan to buy a few as gifts. I have a few pressure cookers and would give them all up but for my pressure canner to for this instant pot. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I have used most of the setting and have found it easy to use, the sky is the limit. So far I have made a roast with potatoes and carrots, ham and bean soup, bacon and bean soup, mash potatoes, old fashion rice, rotisserie chicken, Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo just to name a few turns out amazing cooked at the same time in one pot. I even cooked meat and used the fast release to add the vegetables later. Everything turned out amazing. Great to be able to cook it all at once which means less clean up. I love how it holds things warm, little or no steam coming out and almost no noise but for when it starts up. You get all the things you love with a pressure cook with none of the things you don’t like plus so much more.I told my son they needed one, he said I don’t like food cooked in a slow cooker, I told him this is nothing like that. They were coming over this weekend so I told them to let me make a rotisserie chicke, give it a try and see what you think. I waited until they got here and showed them from start to finish how easy it was, they totally fell in love with it. I will be buying them one this week. They will get so much enjoyment out of it with good tasting healthy food.Let’s face it everyone is looking for healthier ways of cooking that cuts your time in half, for my family this is the way to go. I love that everything is stainless steel, easy to use, very little mess and is so quite it is a shame not to have one. I got the 8qt for me and will be getting the 6 qt for my son and another one for a friend. I am also checking into getting another pan for the inside so I can go from making one things to another without washing it why it is hot. There are also some Accessories I want.It is made of good quality and will last for years. I may even buy another one for myself. I can’t see me every going back to a pressure cooker and do not want to be without one.

Wow…just WOW!
OK, so, like everyone, I’ve been hearing alot about these Instant Pots…as in lots of rave reviews.I got this on a ridiculous Black Friday deal, and saved it for a Christmas present for my girlfriend.Last year, I gave her a way beyond and over the top complete set of Ninja Blender stuff, and as she opened each separately wrapped piece, her expression and mood got worse and finally, she literally stopped opening and left the room. 3 weeks later, after using it, her mood changed abruptly and it’s now a go to kitchen appliance. So this year, things were pretty much the same (as I also bought and wrapped a few extras for this), as in she wasn’t very happy.Last weekend, I asked her if I could use it…and also asked that she watch and see just how awesome this thing is. She agreed, and I proceeded to check for recipes for BBQ Baked beans from scratch. Let’s just say we were both impressed beyond expectations and I’m now waiting for her to use this on her own.I went for the 8 quart size because I truly believe bigger is better and offers more options. It’s just me and the girlfriend, but when I/we cook, we like having extra, which we freeze with our FoodSaver in 1-2 portion bags. This is a large machine, but I’m happy I went big, as it opens up so many more options for cooking. As a pressure cooker, I’m still amazed how easy it is to use and how great the results are. I mean, instead of soaking my beans overnight, changing water several times, and then having to slow cook them the entire next day, I had my beans completely done in less than 2 hours from start to finish, and there are actually recipes that can be completed in half that time. I’ve read and seen frozen, raw meat being cooked to what appears to be perfection in less than 30 minutes. Crazy cool.Another reason I went for this (and went big) was the slow cooker functions. We have 2 crock pots and neither one works like I’d like it to. The lids never fit remotely tight, steam and whatever we’re cooking spits out constantly, and getting the thing up to real heat takes well over an hour. Here, with the Instant Pot, you can first of all sear your meat or saute your vegies in mere minutes, as in you have real, serious heat faster than an electric range! And then, simply change the heat to slow cooker put on your nicely fitting glass lid (you’ll have to purchase that separately, though), and crock pot away. You can even use a “keep warm” setting and let peeps serve themselves from your kitchen island.Again, I got this for the insane price of $69, and it’s now showing at $122, but I’m telling you, this thing is worth its weight in gold and can replace so many kitchen appliances. Time is not an enemy of mine, yet I foresee using this very often. If time isn’t on your side, you’ll find you can cook amazing meals in a mere fraction of the time it would take you using standard appliances. This is truly an A+ appliance and a must in every kitchen.

Should have bought on sooner
I fix my dogs food in it. I pressure cook chicken for them. The bones soften and can be crushed easily. The “set time and forget it” is great. I don’t have to worry about when it is time to turn it off. Before I would have to make sure I came in the house and turned off the stove top pressure cooker. Now I set it up and I’m done. Good heavy inner stainless pot. Works great for soups, stew, etc.

From a die-hard standard pressure cooker user, this is a fantastic kitchen device and you want one!
Dear Mr. Instant Pot Inventor, THANK YOU! This is coming from a die-hard standard pressure cooker fan. I’ve been eyeing the Instant Pot for a year now. Chatting with my friends that purchase them to see how they like them and what they don’t like about them but none of my friends use regular pressure cookers so it wasn’t a true comparison for me. Well I went ahead and ordered the 8 quart on Black Friday and let me tell all who read this review I LOVE IT! My husband loves it. We’ve used it daily for the past week.I was originally wanting the 6 quart but by Black Friday the 6 quart on Amazon was sold out and the 8 quart was on sale so that’s the one I purchased. In addition my friend had already been telling me to purchase the 8 quart and that I wouldn’t be disappointed with it. When it arrived and I pulled it out of its box I thought it was massive and would be too big. To my delight this isn’t the case and in fact is the perfect size for my husband and I. It’s allowed me to do the pot in pot method easily as well as make a large batch of soup.My favorite aspect is the set it and forget it for the pressure cooker. I’ve not had the opportunity to use it as a rice steamer or crock pot yet. I know most people are afraid to use a regular pressure cooker because of the fear of it exploding and you have to be near it and watch it while it’s in use to ensure it’s kept at the correct pressure. With the Instant Pot you literally turn it on, set the settings, and walk away. You come back and it’s done. Wahlaa!!!! Unlike a regular pressure cooker the steam doesn’t vent and spit through the weight while it’s cooking so there’s no mess on your counter to tend to.I’ve also found that the recipes I’m using today can be used in the Instant Pot without any or limited modifications. The only modifications I’ve found I’ve needed to make have been on cooking time and it’s to actually lower it. I’m assuming it’s because the cooker keeps all of the moisture trapped inside it’s cooking more efficiently (remember comment above about it not letting steam sputter out the weight). I’ve made burgundy beef tips with frozen beef and 2 medium sized sweet potatoes at the same time but using the provided steaming rack upside down so the potatoes sat above the meat. I cooked it for 18 mins and let it depressurize naturally. The meat was perfect but the potatoes were a tad over done so next time I’ll drop the time from 18 to 15 mins. The interesting thing was the sweet potato skins, they were tender and could be eaten as well. They were as tender as one on a red skinned potato. My other favorite usage is to make my steel cut oatmeal in it. I’ve been doing this in a pressure cooker for years now using the pot in pot method. I’ve changed nothing on this recipe and it’s coming out perfect in the Instant Pot. We make 5 servings at a time and it takes 5 mins to cook and then I let it depressurize naturally. We’ve also made a batch of ham, greens, and lentil soup from scratch and it was very easy to do. Again, you literally just set it and forget it and come back to some delicious food.So now I have 2 pressure cookers, 1 crock pot, and 1 rice steamer that’s all been replaced by this one device. Will I get rid of my pressure cookers, crock pot, and rice steamer? No I don’t think so. They’ll be used as backups…unless I become like so many others and buy more Instant Pots! My friends before me all have multiple sized devices now so I guess it’s inevitable that I will as well one day. I hear they’re like cats, you can’t have just one. So again, thank you and I hope you get to read this one personally someday. Till then I hope my review helps others who are contemplating on purchasing the device. The answer is yes…yes you want one but you just don’t know it yet.

Very Good Quality
I owned this pot since 2018 and it’s been 6 years. It works really good and pretty good quality. I don’t have any problems or complaints about this pot. It’s easy to make dinner which really helps me a lot and save time. I’ve heard that the company was in trouble because of the fantastic quality. People buy one and use for a long time make them in low sales volume. I hope they can get through it.

Very convenient
This is the second instapot duo that I have purchased. Unfortunately I moved and had to leave the old one behind. I opted for the 8 qt this time over the 6 qt. It is quite large and takes up a ton of counter space, but it makes cooking so fast/easy that I think it is completely worth it. I have only used it s few times, but it works perfectly! I never want to be without an instapot! The only thing that could make it any better is if it came with an actual basket to use inside. The tiny tray that it comes with was usable, but just barely. I am ordering some baskets here on Amazon now.

Success in the Kitchen….Finally.
I love my Instant Pot DUO80, I don’t think I have enough space in this post to express all the good feelings I have regarding this purchase. I highly recommend that anyone reading this post trust your instincts and make the purchase. My Instant Pot DUO80 (8 Qt.) is not only a quality investment in terms of cooking, I also save tons and tons of time away from the kitchen (ie. less time prepping food, I can store food in the refrigerator after a meal and can reheat and serve leftovers that taste great. Enough about my idiosyncrasies in the kitchen– let’s talk about how this little beauty can cook and all the good things it can assist you with. First, I have only had mine two weeks, but I know I have made a smart decision when I bought it. Please read the manuals, there are two of them. My first meal was beef cubes, I never tasted such tender and moist beef, I set the Instant Pot to the Manual Key, I cooked my beef cubes 30 minutes then I added potatoes and carrots as well as a little corn starch this added another 15 minutes to the overall time, and when everything was done cooking C’est delicieux—magnifique. Some tips for beginners, be sure to review Youtube videos, there are plenty of them and this also allows for improvisation and necessary adjustments. Also, you can cook pretty much anything you desire. You will not be able to fry foods in the Instant Pot. I bought an 8 qt inner pot ( this is where you place your meat, or vegetables etc,) the choice to purchase a 6 Qt or 8Qt is up to you, family size is usually the determining factor. Although in my case ( I’m a bachelor) I just preferred to purchase the 8 Qt. Another thing, keeping the Instant Pot clean is important, again read the Manual. As for time controls when cooking, this part is not that complicated, If the instructions call for 12, 15 minutes, you can go over or under, the important thing is to add water, or liquid ( broth/juice) as not to burn Inner pot.The Instant Pot has a Saute’ feature, and sometime I prefer using my stove to Saute’, the Steam feature is very handy, today I steamed some apples and made a nice dish of apple crisp. One more thing please be careful when you begin to cook, you must use the steam release handle to seal up the Instant Pot, and then when your food is done you must use the venting ( just turn the handle ) to release the steam. The Instant Pot is not Rocket Science you don’t need a certificate to get this up and running, remember that basically, the unit must 1st build up steam ( pressure cooking) and when the food is done (be very very careful) release the pressure (venting) and slowly open/ remove the lid.I am an Amazon Prime member so delivery was perfect, my Instant Pot arrived In 2-days via UPS. Very happy about that as well. I hope I was able to persuade just one person to go out there and buy this item. It’s been only two weeks but I just love this unit. Also, the Instant Pot Company gives consumers a 1-year warranty.Well, tonight, while I watch NFL football, ( the NFL games are part of Amazon Prime Membership), I going to snack on the good food I cooked today. I hope I can stay awake to enjoy the game ( Protests and all). One thing I won’t protest is the Instant Pot, this item is a real winner, congrats to Amazon for putting this item on the market. Very happy and satisfied customer—-thanks, Amazon.-

Great addition, just wish it were bigger
My husband and I are really enjoying our Instant Pot Duo Crisp. Since there are only 2 of us, we got the 6 quart size. We love that it came with so many extras. We quickly learned we needed the bigger size, especially since we have to pay attention to the maximum fill line, but we compensate by cooking in batches if we need to. The air fryer is only big enough for 1 pork chop at a time but fortunately they don’t take long to cook. This is the first pressure cooker we’ve had and we love it. It would be even better if it were oblong rather than round to fit longer food items like turkey legs. We haven’t yet used all the functions but I’m sure we will. Maybe next year when they are on sale again we’ll get a bigger one!

You tube videos are helpful for first time users
I like that it cooks so well and is easy to clean the pot. Have not used the air fryer option yet but plan to soon. I wish I knew about a good cookbook for air fryer duo instapot with “regular” food. Can you cook hamburgers, grilled cheese, bake chicken, every day recipes?Maybe that is too elemental but I want an instant pot recipe with less than 8 ingredients that don’t require hours of prep and clean up. I have made a wonderful navy bean soup with ham and will make it again. So tasty but time consuming. Next time will be quicker I am sure.

Convenient? Maybe. Saves time? Not as much as you might think.
Bought this as a 3qt (gifted to me) was too smal for large batches.First thing to know: about any Instant Pot: It takes a while to come up to pressures. Those reviews with a “30-35 minute cook time” are bogus as they don’t include the time for the Instant Pot to come to pressure. Add 15-20 minutes to any of those recipes. E.g., for rice or similar, it does not save any time. Start-to-finish vs. on the stovetop is a wash. Also remember that the effective volume when pressure cooking is 2/3 of the stated volume. So for this “8qt” your’re usable volume is ~5.3qt. That is a fair bit, but not what I would call “large”, and not sufficient when preparing meals for the next couple months. Then we get into the actual cookiing. For stews most Instant Pot recipes call for throwing everything in the pot (meat, potatos, carrots, …) and cooking for ~30-35min. The result is mushy potatoes, carrots, mushrooms etc. that get worse if you intend to bag-freeze and retherm (unless you use Sous Vide to retherm, which is what I do). To avoid that veggie mushiness, ou need to cook the meat, release pressure, then add the veggies for the last ~15min. That means two pressure cycles, with the resulting time to come up to pressure for each cycle. So that stew goes from the claimed ~30-35min to ~60-90min.I can do a standard cook in ~2.5hr (150min) for similar with much better results. Little time saving over the Instant Pot when preparing large batches. To add insult to injury, the Instant Pot pot is not induction ready, so can’t do a typical cool-refrigirate-defat (and bag-freeze for future use) using the same pot.In short, if you are looking for something that might help accerate a particular conconction, this may be for you. Otherwise just stick to more traditional methods. Your result will be much better with noiminal incease in time-effort vs. the Instant Pot.Not to mention that I expect the Instant Pot to last maybe 5 years. My 12qt Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker and Le Creuset / Staub 12qt pots will be around for decades.

Lasted 7 years with decent use
I bought this about 7.5 years ago and have really enjoyed it. Cooking ribs up in short order – or frozen items like a roast – has been a delight. I’ve done rice, beans, stocks, stews – almost everything has come out quite well. The slow cooking function isn’t quite on par with a proper slow cooker, but it worked if we needed one. (We didn’t use ours much anyway.)I’m currently in the market for a new one as around the 7 year mark the panel started having issues & it would occasionally shut off mid session. I put off replacing it and the panel started to short. Initially I used it a lot – sometimes multiple times a day, but as kids grew up & food preferences changed, it’s been pulled out less. I wasn’t positive I’d replace it, but I’ve wanted to use it multiple times over the last month, so will definitely do so.Great investment for a family, in my opinion.

Stainless vs coated
Mainly pressure cooking chicken for pet food in large quantities. Two batches so farand everything is fine. There is a dent in the outer sleeve, but has had no impact on performance. I prefer Instant Pot stainless rather than coated.

The 8-Qt IP is “ALL THAT”!
My 8-quart Instant Pot arrived yesterday mid-day. This is my 4th or 5th electric pressure cooker, and it is replacing a Cooks Essentials 6-quart electric PC whose interior pot’s non-stick lining had chipped. I also have some smaller Kuhn Rikon stovetop PCs, which permit really quick cooking for the recipes that fit into them.I “must” have a large electric pressure cooker for 5 things:1) I love to cook a whole chicken and make my chicken soup completely from scratch. In the U.S. our grocery stores have big chickens.2) I am hooked on my own Corned Beef and Cabbage, because I cook the corned beef the night before, and remove the fat after a day of refrigeration. It tastes “cleaner” but still has lots of flavor.3) Recipes for beef stews might limit the volume of potatoes, carrots, and onions to fit in the pot. An 8-quart pot allows me to use a larger cut of beef, and add more potatoes without jeopardizing the PC’s ability to come up to pressure.4) PC recipes that take longer than an hour test my patience for hanging around. I like to “set it and forget it” for a while.5) Ribs. Ribs take up a lot of space, and most people don’t limit themselves to a proper “single” portion. Set dry-rubbed ribs on a trivet in the PC and let the water’s steam produce moist ribs. No BBQ sauce is needed!I still use my smaller stovetop PCs for:1) 3-qt is perfect size for rice. I prefer PC rice to rice cooker rice – less scorching. I freeze extra cooked rice.2) 2-qt is perfect for simple dinner for 2 – and fast – it takes little time to come up to pressure or for natural release.3) 5-qt braiser holds a full-size round cooling rack, allowing me to steam 4-5 chicken breasts or quickly steam asparagus.4) I use the 5-qt braiser when I need a truly “quick release” to add foods in stages. With a stovetop PC, you take the PC to the sink and run cold water on the lid to reduce the pressure quickly. You can’t do that with an electric cooker. So, how about the 8-quart Instant Pot?1) The inner pot is high quality. Soaking solves a lot of cleaning problems in stainless steel.2) The silicone gasket fits very snugly. In fact, after I did my preliminary sudsy wash, it seemed like torture to get the gasket to fit correctly. I thought I had fit it correctly… until I tried to do the Water Test and I was unable to lock the lid in position. Thank goodness some kind souls on the Instant Pot Community page on Facebook helped me identify the problem. (When you get your 8-qt pot, observe carefully how the gasket fits before disassembling for washing.) Today, when I reassembled my IP, I patiently positioned the ring in one spot and patiently coaxed it into place, so apparently this old dog could still learn a new trick. (It is important that the gasket and the lid both be completely dry!)3) The 8-qt. machine is BIG, and TALL. My kitchen counters are the high standard height, and it seemed awkward to me to try to saute in the Instant Pot. (One person suggested strongly that I use a step ladder – obviously no senior should try sauteing from a ladder.) With my beef stew recipe, I had planned to saute mushrooms and onions on the stove anyway (both emit a LOT of liquid, plus there is more “umami” when prepared this way) and add them to the stew at the end. So I sauteed the beef in the same 6 3/4 qt Le Creuset pot I was going to use for the mushrooms (I don’t flip as much food out of that pot as when I use a normal saute pan). My method worked fine for me. If you dread cleaning an extra pot/pan, then you might choose to do everything in the Instant Pot – your choice. Today I reflected that I might use a table at the lower standard counter height, which would make it easier for me to saute in the Instant Pot itself, as long as the cord reached. (I loved the oval pot of the Cooks Essential PC – it was so easy to saute in it!)4) The IP came up to pressure and down from pressure faster than the Cooks Essential PC. For a “quick” release, you don’t have to wait as long before letting some steam out. And once the steam lever was released, the pressure came down very fast – that was a huge improvement over the Cook’s Essential.5) You can choose different settings for “Saute”: great when you want a simmer and not a rapid boil!6) There was plenty of extra room in the pot for the additional potatoes and carrots DH wants in the next batch.7) Our beef stew was delightful, just as mouth-watering as doing the whole nine yards of Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon.I am looking forward to trying many more recipes in this versatile cooker.p.s. The packaging impressed me a lot! There was a reinforced plastic strap around the Instant Pot shipping box that made it easy to remove from the slightly larger Amazon shipping box. Inside the Instant Pot shipping box was the product box with all the graphics as you might see on a store shelf. The product box also had a plastic strap to coax the product box out of the Instant Pot shipping box. The product box had styrofoam reinforcement of the product at top and bottom. So the product was well protected during its shipping!

Love hate relationship
My first instapot slow cooker option never work. We upgraded to this size for Thanksgiving. First use was making our honey ham. It was a HUGE fail. It was almost an immediate return. Chalked it up to the size of ham causing issues, even though it fit inside. Nonetheless- tested out slow cooker option and worked with ease. Made a few other recipes with no issues. This is significantly bigger than our older instapot, but we wanted bigger. May never know why the ham had an issue, but haven’t had any issues since.

Great replacement for the one I ruined
I had an 8 quart instant pot. Until I made the rookie mistake of using the stove top as counter space. Little did I know I accidentally pushed the instant pot into a knob and turned it on. Completely ruined it. There’s a reason they tell you not to do that. Because it just takes one little nudge. Big oopsie.

Instant Pot is amazing!
This is my second Instant Pot. I have found myself needing more than one and so I asked for this second larger one for my birthday. It is so easy to use. Our family uses it weekly. I make all of our beans from dry in it as well as rice, soups, stews, roasts, and anything else. It works for so many things. I love the improved lid on this. My original one had a part that fell off into the sink when I was washing it so I have to be super careful with it. This newer design just has a switch that changes the venting. I run the stainless bowl in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. It has not leaked and nothing has stuck to it. I think this is my favorite kitchen appliance. These InstantPots are great and I have never had any issues with safety. Exceptional product!

Second one I bought – Very handy.
Bought earlier unit from the company. Did a super job on soups to turkeys. when cleaning the old unit had a same color insert, which accidentally got washed and into the electrical. I’m glad to see this Pot Duo 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker has fixed that, much easier to avoid the mistake I made. If you want a cooker that can do multiple types of meals, this is the best.

It looks intimidating but really is easy to use
OK…joined the “instapot craze phase” against my “better wishes” and BOY WAS I WRONG! I should have been brought this pressure cooker! It looks intimidating but really is easy to use! Had it for two weeks and then I finally used it and WOW! I am so pleased with the ease and speed of making meals that I am seriously thinking of buying an extra one! One I can use for main meals (yes I brought extra insert pots) and the other for sides (I’m thinking that this will be beneficial for holidays, parties, etc.). I am a mother of 3 EATING teenagers and VERY often have come home to either I forgot to take of the meat for dinner or the kids (even though I call and tell them to take meat out the freezer, and WAIT on the phone while they do so but of course when I get home..they forgot to take make out of freezer!). Anyway, well forgot to take the wing dings out the freezer, HOWEVER, saw recipe for honey garlic BBQ wings (FROM FROZEN) and after pot reached pressure the wings were cooked (did I mention they were frozen) in 12 minutes! The wings were tender, flavorable, and delicious (you would have thought that I spent hours making these wings!). The kids absolutely loved them and wanted more (yes the ate the WHOLE bag of wings…3 pounds!). Ok so i was impressed, but the next night I said let’s try the family favorite, mac and cheese, which normally for me is about 1/2 to an hr prep time (shredding the cheese, boiling the noodles, heating up oven and the time does not include baking the dish!). So from start to finish making the mac and cheese took 10 minutes (I will even add 5 minutes for the skeptical people)…the cheese was already shredded, but I put the ingredients in the pressure cooker which reached pressure about 5 maybe six minutes, the timer was set for 4 minutes…and mac and cheese DONE! The outcome creamy, cheesy, awesome mac and cheese! I am so anxious to try roast, ribs, and other recipes. I recommend to a new cooker, avid cooker, busy cooker…any cooker BUY the instant pop…it is worth it!UPDATE: Havent’t changed my mind! Still loving my instant pot! So much so that i have ordered just about every accessory for the instant pot that I could to try different recipes such as breads, cakes, and yes even cheesecake! I have told EVERYONE I know…oh yes you have to get a instant pot! Now I have tried the yogurt function…great however in trying the slow cooker function it did not do it! Tried to make candied yams and after 8 hours (the recipe only calls for 3 hours) the potatoes never got done…had to put potatoes in another slow cooker that I have (it’s so old bu still works great)! Despite the Instant Pot “slow cooker” failure….I STILL RECOMMEND IT..so much so that I plan on getting another one (when budget allows) so when I make huge meals (such as Thanksgiving) I will be able to cook multiple things at the same time! I have a pressure cooker that I got from HSN or QVC (can’t remember)…after using it 1 yes 1 time it has been sitting collecting dust every since. It was too hard to use, clean, so it just wasn’t worth it. But I still tried the Instant pot because of the many reviews on the ease of use and to me it is as easy as using my stovetop oven (which I haven’t used since getting the instant pot!)

I LOVED IT BUT BROKE ONE MONTH AFTER
The media could not be loaded.
2nd Update*** The one I received the third time (the first broke, the second had a dent, the third is the one i have now) and it has been working Perfectly! I use it quite a lot, one or two times per week to make soups or boil potatoes, it has been working like a charm and I LOVE IT, it has made my life SO easy, now I dont have to worry about the water boiling or the soup getting dry, I just set the timer, throw everything in the pot and forget about it, when it finish my soup is ready! And takes only 12minutes to perfectly boil potatoes just with a tiny amount of water. All the output was worth it.Update*** I received the replacement for this one and it arrived damaged on the left side so they told me they couldn’t replace the replacement, I had to order a refund, send the second one back and then buy again a third one and wait for they to refund me the first one.***SO I needed a pressure cooker and absolutely LOVED THIS ONE, its my first one since I have been using the conventional one all my life, it amazed me how I can just put everything on it and it silently will have everything ready and stop when it does.• BUUUT after one month and a week of buying (In wich I used it literally 4 times) it stopped cooking in the halfway showing a C7 ERROR on the screen while beeping continuosly as seen on the video, I had to press cancel and put it again to cook and then it would work but HEY it was just 1 MONTH after buying!I googled the error and it showed it was something related to the inner wiring resistance so its nothing I could say I can fix by myself.Fortunately Amazon is such a great platform and told me they were going to send a new one and I would need to take this one back on UPS.Hope it wont happen again with the new one, I know nowdays they dont do things to last for years as they did before but there is no reason to do things so cheap (when they are not economically cheap) to break out after a month. Hopefully it is just an isolated case because I really liked the product, this is no good for a brand to sell things that will not last in time.Pd sorry for the pictures my kids just spilled soup all over the thing.

Bad customer service!
I was loving my instant pot, bragging to all about it. Making my dogs food was so easy! I put in the food and the water, pressed pressure cook and like magic it was just done when it beeped. Getting used to the pressurization wasn’t hard at all. It wasn’t really difficult to use.Until last week… My pot just didn’t turn on! I tried other outlets and other electronics so it was not the outlet. I moved the pot to a different outlet, nothing. It was the pot. The manual gave explicit troubleshooting directions based on what is wrong. Not turning on meant that the circuit board blew and it advised to call support, which I did. When you call, an automated message tells you to go online and put in a ticket- because this is clearly a company that doesn’t want to be bothered ‘talking’ to their customers. So I do this. A day later no response! So I email again asking for help. This time I email them the same information. Didn’t hear from them until Friday! I needed my pot fixed on Tuesday…. On Thursday though I had had enough and called Amazon who thankfully knows how to treat customers and were able to refund me the product and I shipped it back to them. The pot was less than a year of purchase and within warranty after all! Even Amazon tried getting ahold of the company and they couldn’t get a response!Beware of this brand! I would look for another pressure cooker because when it breaks, and it likely will, you won’t be getting help for days….My first attempt to post this review Amazon blocked for an unknown reason. It should be posted though people should know what kind of company this is…

works best for large batches
I love making boiled eggs, takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. about 5 minutes to pressurize, then cooks for 5m and allow to naturally reduce pressure for 5m.dislikes: it took a while to understand that closing and locking the lid starts the cooking process. There isn’t any indication that it’s starting.the instructions suck, there aren’t any recipes I had to look everything up on Google.

Convenient for sure
It’s helpful to have an instant pot in your kitchen. It saves you time and gives you some break from cooking with eyes on the stove. The only thing I am not impressed is the taste. When compared the taste, thesoup/broth cooked or sauté on the stove tasted much better without losing any flavor. That was the experience I have had so far. If you are not very particular in taste, it is not a bad thing to have one.

Release valve has a separate control
This is my 2nd Duo. I had followed other reviews with my first one – pushing down on the lid if the seal wasn’t perfect. That eventually broke one of the sensors. I bought a replacement, but it did not fit my older pot. Lesson learned – don’t push down on the lid, make sure the sealing ring is clean and supple.I like that the lid has a slider that goes into place automatically when you seal the lid. You can slide it down yourselft for a quick release vent instead of having to grab the vent piece yourself (or scootch it with a spoon!). I was hoping for a totally flat bottom on the stainless steel insert, which I thought I had seen as a feature on the newer ones, but this one is still slightly domed.I have been an IP user for many years and will continue to love my unit. I use it at least twice a week. I had read that quality went down after IP sold to whomever, but I haven’t had issues so far. It’s early in the game. May I get at least another 5 years out of this one. Worth every penny not to have to stand at the stove and watch things (and stir) while cooking. Want quick mashed potatoes? Cook in an IP. Want quick mac and cheese? Cook in an IP. Want meatloaf….. and it goes on and on. There are tons of recipes to be found on the web, so feel free to look for an IP version of your favorite meal. Or find something new.

Love but Sauté setting not hot enough
My older unit had a sauté setting I could actually use. This model doesn’t get hot enough to brown meat. And it takes forever to sauté veggies. The pressure cooker functions just fine; however I need to use a traditional pan to brown/sauté which is disappointing.

Love it!
Best thing since sliced bread! I recommend this product. It’s sturdy, effective and easy to handle. I should have gotten this year’s ago!

I love it
I love this thing, I can cook a fully frozen chicken in an hour and a half. I had another brand before this and this one has been better. The ring never slips out of place and I love that the pressure valve doesn’t fall off. Works great!

this thing is fantastic
So far we have used it 2x a month since purchase to make lots of our favorite slow cooked foods much much faster. sweet potatoes ready in 20 minutes, wild rice ready in 20 minutes have been awesome! The only thing I would change is the slow cook setting needs to be able to be turned up to a higher setting and operate with the lid removed, other than that its been awesome.

Works, but…
I had a previous 6qt version and passed it on to a nephew because I was interested in the 8qt size. Although this one functions as a pressure cooker, the bottom only sautés on the left side. I spin the pot inside and only the left side gets hot. Is this normal?
